Due to the utilization of an emergency day, the last day of school for the 2012-13 school year is Wednesday, June 5th. Students will be dismissed at 1:55 p.m. There is no school for students on Tuesday, June 4th for a Teacher’s Institute.

Grant Park School District #6 has announced a minor change in administrative placements for the 2013-14 school year. Ms. Tracy Planeta will serve as the PreK-5 elementary principal next year and Mr. Tom Sanidas will be the principal of Grant Park Middle School/High School. To assist with the supervision of the middle school, Mr. Jeremy Prairie has been employed as a “Teacher Dean.” Mr. Prairie will continue to teach high school classes with the exception of two hours during the day when he is assigned to administrative duties in the middle school. With the current locations of our buildings, this decision will allow each building principal to be present and visible for his/her students and staff on a daily basis. With this daily presence, decisions regarding the education and safety of students will be addressed in a timely fashion. Also, this decision will allow more time for concentrated instructional leadership at the buildings as our students and staff are required to transition to the difficult Common Core Standards. The district would like to thank Ms. Planeta for her dedication and hard work in her role as principal serving the students of both buildings.
