PE Week of May 6-10

May 3rd, 2013

Elementary classes- We will continue with our softball unit by playing round robin games.

Middle School classes- We will begin a track and field unit consisting of the 100 yd. dash, standing long jump, frisbee throw (discuss), softball throw (shot put) and if time permits before the end of the year work on some relays.

PE Week of April 15-19

April 10th, 2013

Elementary classes- When inside we will continue our volley tennis unit. When we are able to get outside we will begin a softball/baseball unit by working on many different skills through stations.

Middle School classes- When inside we will continue our pickle ball unit. When we are able to get outside we will begin a track unit covering sprints, long jump, and relays.

PE Week of March 18-22

March 15th, 2013

Elementary PE- Eclipse Ball Written Test on Monday for 3rd and 4th grade, and on Tuesday for 5th grade. The rest of the week we will vote on some of the student’s favorite activities and play one for the day.

Middle School PE- We will continue our Badminton unit with doubles game play all week.

PE Week of March 4-8

March 6th, 2013

Elementary PE- We will continue with our Eclipse Ball unit. The students will continue to work on their racket skills during game play.

Middle School PE- On Tuesday the students will play volley tennis and Wednesday take a volley tennis written test. On Thursday and Friday we will begin a badminton/pickle ball unit. We will go over the rules to each game and practice skills for each one according to the unit we are covering for that day.

PE Week of Feb. 18-22

February 15th, 2013

Elementary- We are going to take a break from our typical unit and do fill in activities this week. These activities are usually quick activities that the students enjoy and it will also give them a break from our unit based activities.

Middle School- T, Th the students will play volley tennis and go through circuit training stations, W, F the students will participate in fun noodle activities. These are being led by our student teacher Ms. Regets who recently took over the middle school classes as part of her student teaching assignment.

PE Week of Feb. 11-15

February 8th, 2013

Elementary- We will be finishing up our Jump Rope activities this week with many different activities planned. This also marks the end of Jump Rope for Heart. All donation forms are due by Friday. We have a few turned in already and hope to receive many more!

Middle School- We will start Volley Tennis and Circuit training this week. On Monday we will go over the rules and regulations and begin game play on Tuesday. On Thursday and Friday the 7th grade class will be finishing up Amazing Alternatives and 8th grade will finish up PowerLines with their presentations.

PE Week of Feb. 4-8

February 1st, 2013

Elementary PE- We will continue with our short jump rope skills. This week we will concentrate on six new skills that we learned at the end of last week. We will track our progress through our Every Jump Counts handouts to see if the individual student improves from one class to the next.

REMINDER- Jump Rope for Heart donation forms and money are due by February 15th. They may be turned in earlier if the student is finished with collecting donations. The second grade classes need to have their hearts that need to be colored turned in by Tuesday, Feb. 5th.

Middle School PE- The classes will be alternating between deck ring hockey and eclipse ball for the week. The 7th and 8th grade classes willl have Amazing Alternatives and PowerLines Monday and Wednesday this week and will be going over sessions 5 and 6.

The students will also receive a heart to color and turn in by weeks end. These hearts will be placed on the walls in the Hamann Center.

PE Week of January 21-25

January 17th, 2013

Elementary- We are currently working on short jump rope skills. The students are learning a variety of skills and are working on them through stations. This also marks the beginning of Jump Rope for Heart. The students will receive a donation form this week.. The students are to turn in their forms by February 15th. The students are encouraged to participate but are not required to collect donations. We want them to understand that this goes for a good cause and that all donations go to the American Heart Assocation. Along with this the students will also receive a heart to color for class. All students are required to complete this assignment regardless if they collect donations or not. They are asked to put a family member, family friend, or other acquaitance name on the heart and donate their efforts during class to that person.

Middle School- The classes will begin a deck ring hockey and eclipse ball unit. The 6th grade class will alternate daily while the 7th and 8th grade classes will alternate M,T, and Th. On Wednesday’s and Friday’s for the next four weeks the 7th and 8th grade classes will participate in Amazing Alternatives (7th) and PowerLines (8th) respectively. This course is an alcohol awaareness program aimed at educating the students on peer pressure techniques, community influences, how the media can affect them either positively or negatively, and the negative consequences associated with drinking.
