The principal has met with the counselor and the guidance secretary to begin the traditional scheduling process. All GPHS students will be placed in their core subject areas (English, math, science, social studies) based on data pulled from Discovery as well as local assessments (teacher recommendation). Reading and math competency will weigh heavily in the student placement. Teachers received placement sheets this week with directions as to what data to use in making core class decisions. Once completed, students will be placed into the schedule by computer; then, once gaps are evident, elective selection will occur. With the traditional seven-period day, students will have one fewer class in their schedules. The Guidance Department will work hard to place students in his/her chosen elective (s); however, conflicts may occur.
