Nearing the end of the year

May 17th, 2013

Hola a todos,
It’s been quite an interesting year. Today is the seniors’ last day, quizzes, tests, and projects galore, and time to recognize those who have made an extraordinary effort.

This year, there will be a Spanish award for 1 senior and junior male and female (4 collectively) for outstanding achievement. This will be based largely on grade, attitude in the class, and longevity in the class.

The end of the year for Spanish classes will bring tests and quizzes to complete. Next week, all classes will be assessed on their final unit of the year. We will be reviewing for that assessment and then for their ETA.

The ETA in Spanish class will consist of a listening exercise, a Scantron assessment of grammar and vocabulary, and an extensive final project in which speaking and writing are involved. This will all take place after the Memorial day weekend.

Until then, enjoy this great weather we’ve been having!!

2nd Semester 12-13 School Year

January 13th, 2013

Hola a todos.
As the first semester somes to an end, it is fitting that some changes be made. I will be now detailing some of these changes that are necessary to the success of every student.
First and foremost, more Spanish will be used in the classroom every day by both the instructor(s) and the students. This will be in the form of exercises, drills, and every day administrative items. It will be gradual, but necessary.
Another change that is happenening is the gradual implementation of a student teacher, Srta. Norman. She will begin with teaching the upper levels, then working down to the beginning level. She will be the teacher for every class for approximately 7 weeks total. I will still be available for questions and will be individually contacting parents (along with Srta. Norman) on your child’s progress and anything else that may help him or her to succeed in learning the language.
More changes may arise, but are necessary to meet the rigorous demands place upon them by the workplace, many colleges and universities. Vamos a aprender mucho.
