Thanks to all of the k-8 students (and some parents!) who joined us yesterday in the MS gym for our recorder performance! Fourth graders have been learning the basics of the instrument since February. They were nervous but did a great job performing 5 songs from memory!

Please join us as the MS Band, Chorus and 5th grade Cadet Band present their final concert of the year.  It is at 7 p.m. in the MS gym.

Band and Chorus will present their Spring concert for the community on Tuesday, May 14 at 7 p.m. in the MS gym. 5th grade Cadet Band will also be featured in this performance. Please join us!

Special thanks to our high school musicians for a wonderful concert last night! Best of luck to our graduating seniors.

This past Saturday was contest for our MS musicians at Bradley Central. There were some really nervous kids performing that day but we had great results!

First Place earning a blue ribbon medal: Soloist Jake Hathaway (perfect score!), Katie Williams, Alexis Mazeika-Pahl, and Frank Salmons. Ensembles: Give It Away–David Wagner, Frank Salmons, Jake Hathaway and Patrick Porter, The Rose–Sarah Crivokapich, Veronica Reyes, Erica Reyes, Dani Chiattello, Maddie Coletti and Katie Williams.
Second Place red ribbons: soloist Sarah Crivokapich. Ensembles: River Run–Breanna Giebudowski-Yurcisin, Alexis Mazeika-Pahl, Paige Severins, and Hannah Jackson, Candle on the Water–Lillian Segert, Dana Welcho, Emma Damler and Carley Hobbs.

Thanks to all band and chorus students and their parents for selling butterbraids and gift cards again this spring. Pick up for these items will be Tuesday, March 19 from 3-5 in the MS cafeteria. Butterbraids must remain frozen until they are delivered to customers. Gift cards are only given to students if they have a parental note that they are allowed to pick them up.

April is a busy music month! Saturday, April 6 will be Solo & Ensemble Contest at Bradley Central for select MS musicians. Saturday, April 13 is Organizational Contest for ALL HS musicians at Reed Custer. Finally, Saturday, April 27 is organizational contest for ALL MS musicians at Manteno. Permission slips will be coming home in the coming weeks for each of these events. Please plan to come out and support our groups at these locations! Hope to see you there!

This past Saturday our music department competed in Solo and Ensemble Contest at Clifton Central HS. The judging was tough but our musicians prevailed! We are currently ranked 2nd in the state in the Sweepstakes count as we head into large group competition in April. Nice job everyone!

Both the HS and MS choirs were treated to a great performance of ONU’s production of “Little Shop of Horrors.” We had a great time! What an inspiration for our own singers as we prepare for contest this season. Thanks to the parents who attended with us!
